Welcome to The Willows

Hello, and welcome. I’m thrilled that you are here!  My name is Suzanne, and this is my part of the world.

I live in The Willows, a house that was built in 1930, named for the willow trees that grow along the creek at the back of our home.

Now that my children are almost grown, I find myself with the time to create the life I’ve always dreamed of.

When I finished school we were each given a book of our choosing from a limited selection. I chose the Vogue book of Entertaining. I was entranced by the photos of stylish tables and exquisite food and I have yearned to have that in my life. It spoke of lazy summer lunches, cosy autumn dinners, relaxed chat, laughter, and memories made with loved ones. My partner and I enjoy having our family and friends around us for a meal and I have honed the process so it is something that I really enjoy, rather than think of as a chore.

I love to create little pockets of beauty and calm in our busy, messy lives. Having a beautifully set table brings me a sense of calm and joy for me, a small act of self care .Like most people, I don’t have unlimited funds to buy new tableware when the urge hits (sobs dramatically), nor do I have unlimited storage space.

Come along on this journey as I share tips for creating beauty with what you have, bringing your loved ones together for memorable times around the dinner table. I’ll also admit to both quiet triumphs and the ‘let’s not try it that way ever again’ moments.

Share the next 12 months with me as I host Sunday lunches, intimate gatherings, and casual cocktails at sunset. I’ll show you how you can use colour and pattern to set the mood for your table that says you’re welcome here, linger.

What are your favorite ways to create beauty in your life? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
